The trans experience is not a modern phenomenon, nor is it confined to any specific culture. It has been a part of humankind since the very beginning. Because trans people exist everywhere, the care they receive should not be restricted by the country they happen to live in.

Currently, we face a significant shortage of specialised professionals worldwide. This is why gender-affirming care must be treated as a global field. It is no longer practical—or fair—to rely solely on local systems that are often overwhelmed. The internet has finally given us the tools to bridge these gaps, allowing us to build a reliable international network of surgeons, endocrinologists, psychologists, and speech therapists who can work together for the patient’s benefit.

Beyond Geographic Limitations

I hear very similar stories from clients in the UK, Ireland, Norway, Finland and several other countries. Many feel that local institutional frameworks can be dismissive, with patients frequently reporting that they encounter outdated psychological models that delay or restrict access to care rather than facilitate it. When a person identifies that they need medical intervention to align their body with their identity, they should be met with respect, empathy, and efficiency, not administrative hurdles.

Accessing medically necessary care should not be a geographic lottery.
